Director, The Rev. Antonio Rojas
Padre Tony was born in Colombia. He is the parish priest for the
Episcopal congregation known as La Iglesia de la Sagrada Familia
(Church of the Holy Family) at EFM.
He also celebrates the Holy Eucharist in Spanish on Sundays at St. Francis'
Episcopal Church in Goldsboro and daily in the fields of our area.
Assistant Director, Silvia Cendejas
Silvia Cendejas, originally from Michoacan, Mexico, immigrated to the U.S. at the
age of 7 with her family. She grew up in Benson, North Carolina and graduated from
South Johnston High School in 1992. She began working with the Episcopal
Farmworker Ministry as Secretary in December of 1993.
Presently she is enrolled at Mount Olive College pursuing
a degree in Visual Communication. She has a nine-year-old daughter, Ariana.
Communications and Immigration Specialist, Maria Acosta
Maria Acosta is originally from Rio Grande, Zacatecas, Mexico. As a child she entered
the U.S. in 1976 and returned to Mexico in 1980. She and her family returned to North
Carolina in 1983 and resided in Benson where her family did farm work for ten years.
She graduated from South Johnston High School in 1994 and is currently enrolled at
Sampson Community College pursuing a career in journalism. Maria has been working
with the Episcopal Farmworker Ministry as an Immigration Specialist since November
of 1998. Prior to coming to EFM she worked for Tri-County Community Health Center
from 1994 to 1996 as a bilingual intake specialist. She has been married for eight years
to Hugo Escalera and has a seven-year old, Brittany and a three-year old, Andres.
